Kiddie Sports is a program developed for children aged Toddlers (14 months–3 years old) through the beginning of Kindergarten (2.5 years old–6 years old) to help encourage a life of healthy behaviours and promote the importance of physical activity. Through the development of basic sport fundamentals, paired with a teaching of the necessary social skills for positive group or team play, children gain the confidence to participate in team sport play regardless of skill level. Children will learn a positive and prosocial approach to sports while exploring and discovering new physical capabilities. Children will gain competency in physical literacy, and with the coaches’ encouragement and enthusiasm for all successes, we hope to guide children to enjoy such a setting.
Children will have the ability to participate in an inclusive, stress free learning environment regardless of skill level and abilities. Kiddie Sports was created to foster development of the whole child, in adherence to the Ontario Ministry of Education’s “How Does Learning Happen? Ontario’s Pedagogy for the Early Years” and “Early Learning for Every Child Today: A Framework for Ontario Early Childhood Settings” documents.
Your child’s progress is tracked throughout the 10 week session, and Parents/Guardians are updated with our “Skill Tracker” document mid-session and session end. Pictures and Videos of your child participating are also emailed to parents sporadically (via HiMama) based on location staffing but not promised.
All children should have the right to explore their physical abilities in early childhood!
